Ellen has lived in Sheffield all her life and as well as drama, films and music, she enjoys rock climbing and the Peak District, both of which she has got into her story for Light Transports.

She believes literature and the arts in general should provoke reflection on the world and how we live. Her writing emerges from an interest in what motivates us to do what we do, particularly when we are moved beyond logic by emotion, often into bizarre situations.

She has always been fascinated by the way that literature enables us to mentally live in another place or occupy a character's mind, and her own writing attempts to create the slightly skewed perspectives we often experience but find hard to describe.

Ellen plans to study Classics at University and update ancient myths in contemporary short stories. She is a member of the Writing Squad.
